Woman Who Weighed 300 Pounds Takes You Through Her Inspirational Three-Year Quest To Get Fit

When Laura Micetich was 22 years old, she weighed more than 300 pounds. Even at her young age, she was battling a multitude of health issues including hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, and prediabetes. Laura knew that she would have a short and difficult life if she didn’t get it together and make real changes to her lifestyle. She vowed to eat better and exercise every day in order to not just lose weight but be a healthy and fit person overall.

Here’s Laura When She Decided To Change Her Life

Laura explained: “I decided to take charge of my life and make a change. After trying and failing to get a handle on my health numerous times, my weight had become a serious enough concern that I was considering weight loss surgery.”

She Said “No” To Surgery And “Yes” To A Gym Membership

It turned out that Laura didn’t just go through the motions at her local gym, she quickly fell in love with what would give her her eventual nickname, “The Iron Giantess,” weight training.

Laura Was Determined To Lose Weight On Her Own

Laura wrote on her website: “What initially began because of consideration for weight loss surgery quickly grew into an intense love of health, fitness and nutrition. I started by going to the gym, lifting weights and eating a clean diet tailored to my body’s needs. It only took a few weeks for me to realize that I didn’t need to go under the knife. I needed to get under the bar.”
