Students Give Janitor The Surprise Of A Lifetime And Leaves Him In Tears

Herman Gordan and his wife are originally from Jamaica but Herman has spent the last 12 years working as a janitor at Bristol University. According to one poster on the GoFundMe page, Herman always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he came in contact with:

“The Jamaican cleaner in the med library is the jolliest man I have ever met, he makes me smile even when I’m in the deepest depths of revision or trying to be, if you (want a) reason to smile go talk to him for a min or two.”

Donations flooded in via the GoFundMe page and soon, the students had collected enough to send Herman and his wife to Jamaica for a week this summer to visit their family. The students put the £1,500 ($1,966) in an envelope and handed it to Herman. He opened it and immediately started to tear up saying, “You know, something like this you know that somebody loves you.” He looked at the student as said: “God bless man, God bless,” and the two hugged. Herman was kind and caring because that’s just the kind of person he is and it’s nice to see his good heart being appreciated. Well done, students of Bristol University!
