Los Angeles Couple Turns Tragedy Into Celebration For Homeless Children

There isn’t a person on the planet who doesn’t face adversity at some point in their lives. The journey through life is full of twists and turns, joys and heartache, and ups and downs. But it’s how you battle through those obstacles and the lessons you learn along the way that matters the most.

Like many couples, Mary Davis and her husband Ari Kadin wanted to start a family. They tried for a couple of years but sadly, had two miscarriages. Although it was heartbreaking for the couple, Amy began to think of all of the children who live in poverty and wanted to give back to these special kids.

Mary and Ari started the charity Worth of Love, an organization that believes that all children should feel special and be celebrated, especially on their birthday. They started with the very community in downtown Los Angeles which is considered one of the highest poverty-stricken areas in the nation: Skid Row.

“So many children in Skid Row needed to feel important and loved,” Davis told CBS News. “We didn’t realize how much joy they were going to bring us, and that was so healing for me.”
