They also had to go by made up names. As soon as Noel stepped out of the dressing room, Shane said, “Ethel, grab your choir book and come on.” Noel said she couldn’t picture anyone but a Roger wearing conflicting plaid the way Shane did, so Roger he became!
Next, the couple acted as if this was perfectly normal. They had to wait a few minutes for their table at Longhorn, which Noel said got them some strange looks. Somehow, these two pulled it off with Noel even affectionately calling Shane, “Rog” in front of their server. She posted the photos on Facebook, which have now been shared more than 600,000 times!
Since the Pauley’s have gained a bit of notoriety for their Goodwill Date Night, Noel has written a blog about the experience. She writes: “Marriage is tough, parenting is tough, and honestly life is tough. But everything is better when you’re doing it with your best friend.”
Believe it or not, many couples fell in love with this idea and began posting their own photos of their $10 Goodwill date night buys. It became so popular, in fact, that Goodwill Industries embraced the idea and welcomed couples to give it a try! Action News 41 in Kansas City even held a Valentine’s Day challenge at their local store…
