15 Celebrities Reveal Their REAL Names – How Many Of These Did You Know?

7. Jamie Foxx

Born: Eric Marlon Bishop
Foxx admitted a pretty sneaky reason for changing his name on the Late Show with David Letterman. When Foxx was new to the stand-up circuit, he noticed female comedians would always book a slot because they were so rare. “So I went to the list and wrote down unisex names. Stacy Green, Tracy Brown…Jamie Foxx! And I’m the first guy called. He goes, ‘Jamie Foxx, is she here?’ I said, ‘No, brother, that’s me.’ And then I go onstage and I get a standing ovation.”

8. Calvin Harris

Born: Adam Richard Wiles
The Scottish producer said in a 2009 interview with ShortList: “My first single was more of a soul track, and I thought Calvin Harris sounded a bit more racially ambiguous. I thought people might not know if I was Black or not. After that, I was stuck with it.”

9. Lorde

Born: Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor
Many people think the New Zealand songstress’ stage name has something to do with her religious beliefs, but she told Interview Magazine: “Ever since I was a little kid, I have been really into royals and aristocracy, so to make ‘Lord’ more feminine, I just put an e on the end!”  This also may explain her 2014 hit, “Royals.”
