Teenager Bullied For Her Moles But She Doesn’t Let Them Define Her

19-year-old Ciera Swaringen was born with a rare skin condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus which causes her to have birthmarks over 2/3 of her body.

The birthmarks look like moles and cover even her face which has led to horrible remarks and stares from classmates and strangers.

Ciera doesn’t allow the rude comments bring her down, however.

“I remember when I started school my mom told me that my birthmarks were angel kisses – and that really stuck with me,” Ciera recalls.

“And my dad is the first person to stand up to defend me if anyone says anything horrible to me.”

Hurtful, awful, terrible things have been said to her from boys telling her she looks “dirty” to calling her a spotted dog.

Although the name-calling her hurt feelings when she was younger, she was quickly swayed back to positivity by her parents and family who have always supported her.

“Ciera is a beautiful young lady with a great personality, and I couldn’t be more proud of her – she is one of the strongest people I know,” her mother said.

Growing up in her small town, she credits the people in her community for her positive outlook towards her appearance.

“I feel lucky to have grown up in a small town, because most of the people around me know about my birthmarks, so I felt quite normal,” Ciera said.

There is nothing ordinary about this extraordinary teen!
