Simon Cowell is notorious for being the cranky, curmudgeonly, brutally honest judge of shows like American Idol, The X Factor, and America’s Got Talent as well as their British counterparts, but in real life he’s actually a big softie.
Just ask Julia Carlile.
Julia’s dream since she was very young was to become a professional dancer, but there was one big hurdle standing in her way: She was born with scoliosis.
Despite her condition, Julia began dancing when she was five and formed a dance team with her friends. Through it all, Julia was always in constant pain, but her love of dance pushed her to keep going.
To make matters worse, her spine continued to curve as she got older and had gotten to the point where it was crushing her lungs and giving her excruciating pain in her back.
She refused to give up her passion for dance and her dance troupe, Mersey Girls, even performed on Britain’s Got Talent.
We hope everyone is having an amazing summer, what's everyone been up to?? 🌞🌞Hopefully very soon we will get to meet you all #summer #meetandgreet 👭💃🏻
That’s when she met Cowell and her life changed forever. The girls wanted to win, but Julia felt the prize money would give her the opportunity to have a ground-breaking surgery that would allow her to continue dancing.
