There was a stretch of time where it seemed like Keanu Reeves was everywhere.
After Speed, the blockbuster film that put Sandra Bullock behind the wheel of a bus and into the hearts of millions of viewers, Reeves’ momentum as an A-list Hollywood leading man carried him for a solid two decades.
Films like The Devil’s Advocate put him opposite American film royalty like Al Pacino while The Matrix blew everyone’s minds with its stunning visual effects while its storyline had just about everyone questioning their own existential existence.
There was another side to Reeves that wasn’t as talked about as his stratospheric successes and it wasn’t his band Dogstar’s music.
Reeves is a really good dude.
After Speed wrapped up filming, Reeves bought the entire crew motorcycles and when The Devil’s Advocate budget didn’t allow for Pacino to join the film, Reeves insisted on cutting his own salary to bring the Oscar-winner onboard.
Those stories aren’t secrets, although they certainly aren’t talked about very often. While they do paint him as a good guy, they don’t tell the whole story.
