Back in January, everyone’s favorite fixer-upper couple announced that they were expanding their family by one. For viewers of HGTV’s hit show Fixer Upper, they had grown attached to Joanna and Chip Gaines’ four children Drake (age 13), Ella Rose (age 11), Duke (age 9), and Emmie Kay (age 8). The couple was open about sharing with their fans the ups and downs of having a successful renovation and design company while parenting their adorable brood.
However, the announcement that Baby No. 5 was on the way was bittersweet. The Gaines’ had already made the tough decision to walk away from Fixer Upper, which in a short period of time became so popular, Joanna and Chip were able to create an empire from its success.
The Gaines’ had expanded Joanna’s home goods boutique, Magnolia Market, to a massive shopping complex at The Silos in their hometown of Waco, Texas in October 2015. The 20,000-foot space was renovated into an enormous retail experience and their restaurant, Silos Baking Co., opened on the grounds seven months later. Their latest undertaking, aside from their newborn addition, is their breakfast-brunch cafe, Magnolia Table, which opened in the spring.
Joanna’s cookbook, Magnolia Table, was released in April and is already a #1 New York Times Bestseller. To say that these two have their hands full is quite the understatement!
