Nearly five years ago, HGTV hit the jackpot when they began airing Fixer Upper. Although it’s along the same lines as the countless shows on the cable giant, its sister network DIY, and other brands that jumped on the real estate/renovation TV market. Who would’ve thought the television landscape would be so productive now considering less than a decade ago, we were at the onset of the reality series boom when everyone seemed to have an unscripted show about something?
Names like Christina & Tarek and Jonathan & Drew have replaced Tamra & Vicki and Kourtney & Khloe but there is no one who has found a following quite like Chip & Joanna.
Chip and Joanna Gaines are stars of Fixer Upper, which is sadly in its last season. The loving couple works as a team with Waco, Texas locals to find then reno a family a new home. Chip is a licensed real estate agent and handles that side of the business, Joanna is a decorator with a penchant for barn doors and shiplap. Together, they help transform an affordable house with “good bones” that just needs a little TLC into the home of people’s dreams.
The Gaines’ do a terrific job with the renovations, often knocking down walls and extending floorplans. But what makes the show nearly irresistible is Chip and Joanna themselves.
Joanna and Chip have branched out an expanded her Magnolia Market to now take up tens of thousands of square footage at Waco’s historic silos and they have also opened a cafe nearby that serves breakfast and lunch and is primarily Chip’s baby.
But there was a time when it looked like none of this was going to happen.
Fans of Joanna appreciate how open she is about her faith and her family. She told a story a while back of how God spoke to her after she delivered the Gaines’ second child, telling her to close her beloved Magnolia Market. Joanna did.
Not long after, she says Fixer Upper was on the air. Two years later, Joanna says that same voice of God spoke to her again, telling her “it’s time.” She recalled this time in her life in a now-viral video where she has powerful words for women everywhere to trust in their faith and let God speak to their hearts.
“I can look back on the pattern of my life and really believe God has a purpose for me but he also has a purpose for you. And on the other side of that is the enemy where – he knows where to hit, he knows to hit below the belt, he’s going to have that fear be – what if I fail?'” she said.
“Whether your staying home with your children and your raising beautiful babies or you’re the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, let God speak into your life let his Father Heart come and say, ‘this is what I have for you’ and I think this is the key, not believing the lies, and fixing your eyes on Jesus and walking in that truth.”
Many fans were sad to learn this will be the final season of Fixer Upper, but the Gaines’ had pretty exciting news for everyone who can’t get enough of their adorable family
