Let’s face it, when you’re a parent, you worry about a lot of things. Some of these concerns can be silly like when your mother told you to always wear clean underwear “In case you’re hit by a car!” We all knew if we really did get hit by a car that the paramedics wouldn’t base the decision to treat us or not by the cleanliness of our undergarments, so this had to have something to do with not embarrassing our mothers in public…We think.
But some things really were worth being concerned about – both to our moms back then and those who are parents now. There are obvious things like the health, happiness, and well-being of a child that parents naturally worry about.
Those three categories all have underlying layers to them. You hope that they are kind and thoughtful. You pray that they have friends and don’t ever feel alone. You try to reassure them that they can do anything they set their mind to.
Sometimes, all of these things happen simultaneously in one huge moment. At least it did for one mother who did one of the most common things a mom can do today – she took her son to Walmart.
