Chris Harrison may have one of the best jobs in the entertainment industry, or at least the most amusing. He’s hosted The Bachelor and its many spin-offs since 2002, which is a pretty amusing gig if you think about it. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette may be TV’s biggest guilty pleasure, but one of the reasons why is because there’s a little Schadenfreude in everyone and that gets increased tenfold when it’s two dozen single 20-somethings all vying to become a complete stranger’s fiancée/fiancé in a matter of mere weeks. Harrison has had a front-row seat to all of the train wrecks and he isn’t sick of it yet.
We’re not being too hard on the shows, either. Out of 35 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette combined, only eight couples remain intact, and interestingly, only two are from The Bachelor – technically, that is. As everyone remembers, Jason Mesnick first popped the question to Melissa Rycroft only to pull “A Mesnick” and take-backsies for the runner-up, Molly Malaney. But, Jason and Molly got married, have a daughter, and are living happily ever after so they count.
There’s also been some success among the couples of the “other Bachelor” shows, but there are too many spin-offs involving too many former contestants to keep track. How do you do it, Harrison?!
But keeping track of all the roses isn’t all Chris Harrison gets to do for fun at work. He’s also been hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire since 2015. Game shows come and go, but Harrison gets to drive two of the longest running competitive shows on television. Not bad, eh?
